Up and running

They say that anyone that wants to be in power does not deserve to be and I think there is a lot of truth in this. Do I deserve to be an MP? Well I do not expect to win. Why do it then? What else can you do? Along with several million others I was on one of the anti-war marches in 2003 and did anyone take a blind bit of notice? Like most people I pay my taxes on the understanding that they will be well spent and now I learn that our local MP is claiming nearly £24,000 of them on a second house that he clearly doesn’t need, probably doesn't even have. What can you do? I have always been a floating voter. I voted for Thatcher a couple of times, and was glad I did when the Falkland situation came up, but then she went a bit mad. I have voted for Labour and the Liberals before, in fact on one occasion (and I can’t remember the date) I went into the poling office and there was just no one there I wanted to vote for. I seem to recall that the liberals had just sold out by supporting the government on some unsupportable policy and so I spoke to the woman in the poling booth and asked what to do if there was no one there that even came close to representing my views. I was told that my only option was to ‘spoil’ the paper. The ‘proper’ way to spoil a paper if anyone is interested is to put a line through all of the check boxes. What sort of a solution is that? Now things are worse. It is hard to see what the Liberals stand for other than that they are more left wing than Labour (arguably Attila the Hun was as well, this is not a good point), the Conservatives are trying to be green, Labour are trying to be conservative you just want to knock all their stupid heads together and tell them to start putting the country first. That is why I have decided to stand for parliament and that is why I am hoping that people will vote for me.
